ETHANOL ACROSS AMERICA RELEASES ISSUE BRIEF ON THE NET ENERGY BALANCE OF ETHANOL

Washington, DC, August 12, 2004 — Building on positive studies from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Argonne National Laboratory, and others the Ethanol Across America program today announced the release of a new Issue Brief on the Net Energy Balance of Ethanol Production.

A joint project of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition, the American Coalition for Ethanol, the Nebraska Ethanol Board, and the Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board, the brief was produced in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and provides a thorough examination of the energy balance issue with overwhelming evidence supporting ethanol’s net energy gain. "Clearly the body of work supporting the positive net energy balance of ethanol exists," said Douglas Durante, Director of Ethanol Across America. "The challenge is to get it in a format that the media, legislators, and the public can understand. This Issue Brief cites dozens of studies establishing ethanol’s net energy gain and we believe puts it in a common sense and easily understood format. "

The Issue Brief is available at no charge from Ethanol Across America and the Clean Fuels Development Coalition. Please contact us at cfdcinc@aol.com or durante@ethanolacrossamerica.net.
